At last the 3 cousins combine forces

Well, it was a great week that ended with the three cousins, Karolina as the queen, and Laszlo and Maximilian as her knights errant combining their power for the first time to continue the Kearns total world domination tradition.

The Georgia Kearns-Pauley clan went to the Smithsonian, the Zoo, and Spike's We the Pizza restaurant and later sampled his milkshake at Good Stuff.

The weather was outstanding - nice breezes, no humidity. Perfect sightseeing weather. Johanna got Max and JO tickets to the Kenny Chesney concert and they had a second chance to meet up with groomsman Rob Allred and his fair Molly.

Josh and Lisa got back from the beach on Saturday but Lisa had a wedding on Sunday so all headed over to Johanna's for Brunk. Aunt Johanna, who didn't make it into any of these pictures, hosted the brunk to give the Kearns cousins their very first opportunity to meet all at once, which was great. I unfortunately was not present but my camera was so you m ight say I was the virtual Nana/Granny K.

Laszlo and Milian competed for who could eat the most strawberries while Lax definitely won the cupcake eating contest. Karolina and Granny K baked them the night before.

I discovered a good bottle of bubbles and a ball, and some nice water colors are all you need to keep the young royals happy. All in all, it was a good week.

But I haves to wonder: is there some sort of omen in the fact that Laz and Milian are both wearing stripes?

While the two youngest male Kearns'
grossed out those present, Karolina gracefully balanced her plate on her knee, occasionally acting as regent protector to her brother and cousin.

Chaz, Big Max's oldest friend and groomsman, wasn't there but Mom Cheri was and quickly texted pics to Chaz...

A rare quiet moment as Maximilian and Karolina pose for Cheri

Mothers Day Weekend 2011

Monday night stopped by to see Laszlo who was very into whatever mum was cooking for dinner.

Left, mother's day brunch at Nelly Greens.

Nelly Greens was a hole in the wall on the water during prohibition and Hocka said he used to go down in his dad's pierce arrow with the false bottom to pick up bootleg liquor. Local police were always there to get their cut.

Busy weekend! Friday went to see Katie in Little Shop of Horrors at Wolcott HS with Mommy Sue and Beeg - ate at The River, a great find! Saturday we hit the OTB for the Derby, went home, made mint juleps and wore silly hats. Johanna won on Animal Kingdom - Sunday we hit nelly green's. Mike squeezed us in. Liked the title of the boat in the boatyard - family motto, me thinks. Good time was had by all. Of course, italian pastries from Petanito's. Next time need to go to Lucibello's.

Mommy Sue and Katie in post performance tete-a-tete.

Family Motto

I definitely don't miss the sanding and epoxying to get the boat ready for the water.

Easter 2011

Greek and American Easter came together this year as did Mike's birthday. The weather was hot and sunny, the food great, the birthday cake spectacular. Mike and Leah shared the cake (L's birthday is a week earlier). Cameron and Chloe hunted for their easter egg booty, while Pappou supervised. A good time was had by all: Ted, Nancy, Catherine and David, Ann, Elaine, John, Dean, Leah, Mike, Artemis, Cameron, Chloe, Mrs. Topodas, Neil, Rob and me.

Maximilian James Patrick Kearns hits One!

Milian didn't want his birthday cake and made that perfectly clear. He did love his toys, especially the new farm and had a great time while big sister Karolina played dress up with cousin carter and her friends. He had quite a haul and is now moving grandparents Larry and Mary into a corner with his toys taking up most of the house! His specialty is throwing the ball -- any ball so we think he's headed for the Major League! He talks a bit - knows what he's saying even if no one else does - and he's now walking. Cousin Sophie will be doing the same soon since it looks like she doesn't want to be left behind.

Just like Sherman we swept into Savannah

Savanna was awesome. House and Garden Tour, Paula Dean's, Mrs. Wilkes, the Oyster House, and then some. I need to move to this place as soon as possible. Johanna and I had drinks on the roof of the Bohemian Hotel on the river, then spent the days touring the incredible homes of historic Savannah. That Hyatt in the background of Johanna on the rooftop actually housed Mike and Artemis who, unbeknownst to us, were just below us having dinner at Huey's and we headed next door to the Oyster house! Tried to get to Tybee Island but the weather didn't cooperate Saturday, even though we had to suffer through 80 degree temps whilst DC had snow! Can't wait to get back. We stayed at a loft on Whitaker that was wonderful, with all the amenities and comforts of home. The house pictured with Johanna in front is the Mercer Williams house made famous by Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. The house with the two story porch is called Magnolia Hall. We stumbled onto this set of three rowhouses, each with a different color shutter during our garden walk where we learned about Mock Orange trees, Savannah Holly, mondo grass, Climbing Fig that covers the walls and stairs of Savannah homes, and much more from plant specialist Roy Heizer. We need to go back and try some of the acclaimed restaurants such as Che Bella and Noble Fare and to get out to Tybee Is. to try A-J's. We left Savannah with regret but headed to Jasper for Baby Max's first birthday, which was actually on the 24th.

black vultures

I consulted my National Audubon field guide to north american birds and am fairly certain that what i saw were two black vultures. They have a greyish head as opposed to red heads of turkey vultures. They're more aggressive than turkey vultures, like to fly high when the winds are up, which they were this weekend. Hope they took off for other parts - wouldn't want to see our rabbits, etc picked up. I know I wasn't too happy about them flying around when my lil grandson was out!

Lazcleans up

This is my Laz sweeping the driveway, basically putting the pile of leaves back into the garden from whence they came! And eating his lunch.
